Healthy Meals, Healthy Students

Hello From Your President:

Dear Delaware School Nutrition Association Members,

It is both an incredible honor and a tremendous privilege to serve as the President of the Delaware School Nutrition Association (DSNA). I am excited to begin this journey alongside such an outstanding group of dedicated professionals who work every day to nourish Delaware's students and strengthen our school communities.

As I step into this role, I do so with great optimism and a clear vision. My goal is to continue building upon the strong foundation of our Association: expanding opportunities for our members, strengthening our leadership, growing engagement, and ensuring DSNA remains a respected voice for school nutrition professionals throughout Delaware. Together, we can honor the accomplishments of those who have led before us while embracing new ideas, developing future leaders, and positioning our Association for an even brighter future.

Although Delaware is one of the nation's smallest states, our impact is anything but small. Every school day, school nutrition professionals across Delaware serve tens of thousands of nutritious breakfasts and lunches that fuel learning, support student achievement, and strengthen our communities. Our state membership representation is nothing short of impressive.

Our strength has always been our people. We have been fortunate to have a dedicated membership of school nutrition managers, cooks, supervisors, directors, and industry partners.  Our passion is evident in how we have shown up over the years, with a membership that rivals larger states. We have demonstrated commitment and continuous improvement. I believe our greatest opportunity lies in reconnecting with one another, expanding our event attendance, developing future leaders, and creating an Association that every member is proud to call home.

Delaware's rich agricultural heritage also makes our mission especially meaningful. Agriculture remains one of our state's leading industries, with more than 2,300 farms operating across approximately 500,000 acres. Through partnerships with local growers and Farm to School initiatives, we have an incredible opportunity to connect our cafeterias with our farming communities, providing students with fresh, local foods while supporting Delaware agriculture. These partnerships remind us that school nutrition is about much more than serving meals—it is about strengthening local economies, promoting healthy lifestyles, and teaching students where their food comes from.

As your President, I am committed to:

  • Growing and engaging our membership.

  • Expanding professional development opportunities.

  • Developing the next generation of school nutrition leaders.

  • Advocating for our profession at the local, state, and national levels.

  • Celebrating the extraordinary work happening in cafeterias across Delaware every day.

I encourage each of you to become involved. Whether you volunteer on a committee, attend a conference, pursue a certification, mentor a colleague, or consider serving in a leadership position, your voice matters. Together, we can create an Association that is stronger, more connected, and more influential than ever before. If we don’t, who will?

I believe the best chapters of the Delaware School Nutrition Association are still ahead of us. By working together, supporting one another, and investing in the next generation of leaders, we will continue building an Association that reflects the professionalism, dedication, and passion of Delaware's school nutrition community.

Thank you for the confidence you have placed in me to serve this remarkable organization. I look forward to working alongside our Board of Directors and each of you as we continue advancing our profession and making a lasting impact on the students and communities we serve.

With gratitude and enthusiasm,

Stacy Davis-Smith
President
Delaware School Nutrition Association

"Leadership isn’t about waiting for someone else to act. We must be willing to raise our hands, share the voices of those in our industry, and take action. If we don't, who will? Together we can inspire change and strengthen our profession from within."
